Sesame Seeds

Sesame seeds stand as one of the oldest known oilseed plants, with cultivation dating back over 3000 years. Originating from India, sesame cultivation holds a special place in agricultural history. Notably resilient, sesame thrives in arid conditions where other crops struggle to grow, making it a valuable asset in regions prone to drought.

Chickpeas

Chickpeas rank as the third most significant food legume globally, offering a high-quality protein source, particularly beneficial for people in developing nations. In developed countries, chickpeas are esteemed as a health food due to their nutritional value. Additionally, in South Asian countries, the green leaves and twigs of chickpea plants are utilized to prepare a nutritious vegetable, further highlighting its versatility and importance in culinary traditions.
Chickpeas are also utilized as a high-protein fodder when combined with cereal leaves. Chickpea stover serves as a nutrient-rich supplement for cattle and goats during the lean season, complementing their primary cereal fodder. This practice ensures that livestock receive essential nutrients even when other feed options are limited.
Two primary types are identified: the ‘Desi’ variety, characterized by small brown seeds, and the ‘Kabuli’ variety, distinguished by its large, cream-colored seeds.
